Robert (Bob) D. Rosenthal is chairman, chief executive officer, and chief investment officer of First Long Island Investors, LLC, a wealth management firm based in Jericho that provides comprehensive investment management and family office services to affluent individuals and families as well as select institutions. First Long Island Investors was conceived by Bob and co-founded in 1983. Bob was a key member of the Entenmann’s Bakery leadership team (as EVP and COO) for a number of years where he successfully planned and executed the company’s public offering in 1976, and subsequent sale in 1978. After Entenmann’s went through its second acquisition (first to Warner-Lambert and then to General Foods), Bob was managing the Entenmann families’ assets and conceived First Long Island Investors with the thought that others on Long Island could use the same sophisticated services. The Entenmann families became the firm’s first clients.
First Long Island Investors takes a long-term view to preserving and growing the wealth of their clients. Bob works closely with clients and provides guidance on all aspects of their “wealth of life,” including asset allocation and investment management, family wealth planning, estate and tax planning, and much more.
As part of First Long Island’s investing activities, Bob became co-chairman, co-chief executive officer, and a minority partner of the New York Islanders Hockey Club, L.P. from 1992 to 1997. Bob was also a member of the Board of Directors of W.P. Stewart & Co. from 1993 through 1998, and chairman and chief executive officer of W.P. Stewart Asset Management (NA) (a New York Stock Exchange listed company), which he helped take public in 2000.
Bob was initially elected to the Board of Trustees of Hofstra University in 2006 and currently holds the position of vice chair. Additionally, he is chair of its Endowment Committee. Bob is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Northwell Health, co-chairman of its Investment Committee, and chairperson of the North Shore University Hospital Advisory Board (and vice chairman of the Northwell Health Foundation). In addition, Bob serves as lead director of Systemax Inc. (NYSE: SYX).
Bob graduated cum laude from Boston University and holds a JD from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. He was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 1975. Bob breeds and races thoroughbred horses. He enjoys golfing. Bob and his wife collect art and are global travelers. He and his wife, Jodi, live in Muttontown, New York. He has four children – Julie, Jennifer (married to Adam Leitman Bailey), Lindsay (married to Andrew Maller), and Gregory. Bob and Jodi also have two grandchildren – Benjamin and Nathaniel.
